Teen / Tween Sewing Class with Samuel J. Donovan



Making your own apparel is a lifelong skill that can bring countless hours of pleasure. Start your tween or teen off with this beginner sewing class with Samuel J. Donovan. Sam competed on two seasons of Project Runway, and is a high school fashion design teacher. Students will make a loungewear outfit including a top and pants. Their outfit will be suitable for indoor or outdoor wear depending on the fabric they choose.

Class includes use of basic sewing supplies and a Bernina sewing machine. Fabrics and patterns will need to be purchased additional.

Sam will help students select fabric, determine what size to make, read the pattern and construct the loungewear outfit. No experience is necessary.


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Beginners are welcome. We ask that students be 11 years old or older. Rotary cutters will be used with adult supervision.
Materials Included: Class includes use of basic sewing supplies and a Bernina sewing machine.
Instructor: Samuel Joseph Donovan
Instructor Bio: Sam Donovan is the director of apparel sewing at Cotton Candy Fabrics. Upon graduating from Parsons School of Design, Sam competed on Project Runway Under the Gunn, where he placed second. Then, while designing menswear for Macy's, he returned to Project Runway: All-Stars. He currently works at CATS Academy Boston, while working on custom pieces for clients and teaching at CCF.
