Introduction to Apparel Sewing with Samuel Joseph Donovan

Saturday, January 25, 9am - 4pm
Have you always wanted to learn to make clothing for yourself or your kids? Have great design ideas, but don't know how to execute them? Then this is the class for you, taught by a fantastic former contestant of Project Runway All Stars!

During this class Sam will take us through some of the basics of apparel sewing, and then guide you through making one of several projects of your choice. Sign up early before the class sells out. We'll have patterns available for the class in December and will be happy to help you with fabric selection!

Skill Level: beginner
Skill Details: While this is a beginner sewing class, the expectation is that you have a working knowledge of your sewing machine and can sew straight stitches, etc.
Requirements: Please bring your general sewing supplies including pins, shears, thread, etc. You will need to select one of the patterns being offered for this class and accompanying fabric.
Instructor: Samuel Joseph Donovan
Instructor Bio: My name is Sam Donovan, and I'm writing this in first person because I think it's odd when people write their "about" page in third person. I graduated from Parsons in May 2013, with a BFA in Fashion Design. As a fashion designer, I believe that fashion should be accessible, and that it should make people smile. I love color, print, and texture. I work at incorporating sustainable design elements into my work, particularly a zero waste ethic, which presents itself in a variety of ways, from recycling secondhand garments, to cutting garments without wasting fabric.
