Happiness 2.0 is a small wall hanging of 38” x 38” that is a wonderful introduction to the paper piecing and designs of Be Colourful by Jacqueline de Jonge. This class will teach 13 different techniques all in this gorgeous quilt: Paper piecing, the star, spikes, inset circles, freezer paper techniques, second seam allowance, how to get a straight corner part, sashing, flying geese, nesting seams, how to pin baste, how to ease in the fabrics and how to be sparingly with your fabrics. This fun class will teach all these skills, prepping you to do even more elaborate paper pieced projects should you so desire. Create your own one of kind sneakers and Joan will guide you through the process. You may choose either low top, mid-top or high-tops. Class includes the kit to make the sneakers with either black or white soles and eyelets. Joan will offer laces in the color of your choice for sale. Lunch is also included in class. You'll just need your sewing supplies, a couple of fat quarters and some interfacing. A supply list will be provided in advance of class which will include a sheet to get your shoe size. You will finish one complete sneaker in class and be well on your way to finishing the second. Bernina 4-series machines available on request so you don't even have to log your machine! Kim will be on hand to offer any help with projects! Here's more detail: Friday - Arrivals and goodie bag. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks provided. One game, and one demo. Saturday - Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks provided. One game and Show and Tell after dinner. Sewing with Stacey is an open sew where you can work on the project of your choice with Stacey available to answer questions and help as needed. If you have taken one of Stacey's classes, this is a great opportunity to get extra help on those projects. If not, Stacey is happy to help you with any quilting project including art quilts, collage quilts, applique and mixed media quilt projects. Pre-registration is required and appreciated. We will be holding a sew day in our classroom to work on a quilt to be awarded to a veteran. Quilts of Valor will also provide a variety of fabrics, and the pattern to be made. She is also the co-author of several books featuring Quilts of Valor. Sue will talk about making quilts for Quilts of Valor, the books she has been involved in, and will share a trunk show of quilts that will travel to all of the AQS quilt shows next week. This is a great opportunity to learn more about this amazing organization while seeing beautiful quilts in the progress.
