Join us for a charity sewing event at Cotton Candy Fabrics to benefit Community Action Agency of Western CT! On Friday 8/1 and Saturday 8/23. Katy will lead a session where we make Fat Quarter Zipper Pouches that will be stuffed with toiletries for those in need. Community Action has requested assistance with gathering toiletry items for their mobile food pantry truck which services several senior living housing complexes. If you are able and so inclined to donate smaller/travel sizes of the following items it will be greatly appreciated! Toothpaste Toothbrushes Shampoo Conditioner Hand lotion Kleenex Body wash Bar of soap While this is a free event, we do request advance registration to ensure seating for all attendees.

Our Summer Camp Quilt Retreat includes five full days of sewing time on the projects of your choice in our state of the art classroom. Meals are included, as specified below, and outside of a great time sewing, we'll have fun games, pop up quilt demos, and show and tell. All of this will take place in our state-of-the-art classroom featuring individual desks for each student, 6 cutting tables with mats, and 4 ironing stations. Bernina 4-series machines available on request so you don't even have to lug your machine!

Community Action has requested assistance with gathering toiletry items for their mobile food pantry truck which services several senior living housing complexes. If you are able and so inclined to donate smaller/travel sizes of the following items it will be greatly appreciated! At the crossroads of fiber art and mixed media you will find Fabric Framework – a three-hour workshop for all creatives. The idea for this class came from my desire to use my FreeSpirit fabric collections to honor the amazingness of quilters through the voice of a mixed media artist. And to hang the result on the wall. We will use and combine the basic building blocks of quilting – fabric, batting, and thread – with the basic ingredients of mixed media assemblage – embellishments of your choosing. We begin by making my version of padded quilt blocks. Putting these together much like a puzzle, each participant will create a project nested within a shadow box frame layered with dimensional objects, stitching, fabric, and more. Perfect for quilters who are looking for a way to add dimensional, mixed media elements to their practice, for mixed media makers who want to bring fabric into their work – even if they have never quilted or hand-sewn, and for everybody in between.
